The house

Konak means
a great house.

In Turkish, a konak is the large house an extended family lives in — the one with the wide eaves. The logo draws that roof. The name was chosen before the restaurant had four addresses, and it still describes the place better than the word restaurant does.

Ours.

Every picture on this page was taken at Konak. Nothing here is bought, and nothing here is somebody else’s kitchen.

Under one name

One name,
five places.

Konak is a small local group, not a single dining room: four places to eat — two of them restaurants — and one where you get a haircut.

  1. Restaurant

The main room, on Str. Eliberării. The kitchen is open to the floor.

  2. Konak Port

The second restaurant, by the port, on Str. Lebedei.

  3. Butcher

A butcher’s counter. Meat spiced the Turkish way, Turkish sweets and packaged goods.

  4. Döner

The döner spit, to take away. Turkish cooking in its most direct form.

  5. Barber

A barber, directly above the restaurant. On your way out, stop for a dessert.

This site is about the restaurant on Str. Eliberării nr. 4. The other businesses under the Konak name have their own addresses, which are not listed here. See contact for the one that is.

Where this comes from

Every dish, price, weight and nutrition value on this site is transcribed from the restaurant’s own printed menu (Preview_Meniu Konak Restaurant ORAS_Mai_2025_3.pdf, printed 2025-05-13). The reviews are from Google and are quoted in the language they were written in. Nothing here is estimated to fill a layout.
